The electronic Unit Planner is an online curriculum planning tool providing teachers with a powerful and practical common template. When using eUP teachers are supported with:
  • a large range of thinking tools, cooperative tools, multiple intelligences tasks, literacy considerations and more,
  • ways to differentiate tasks to provide for the individual needs of students,
  • a customised search engine to easily identify and insert relevant standards into units
As teachers develop their units, eUP tracks and audits many elements of their work. It allows teachers to see ways that their curriculum can be enhanced. It also guides the professional development needs of teachers within a school. With eUP, all the information relating to a school's curriculum is in one place. Time is saved when teachers can access information online. For more information please click about or watch our video demo.

eUP COORDINATORS CONFERENCES 2010

It is highly recommended that each eUP school nominates at least one teacher to become an eUP Coordinator. It is envisaged that the eUP coordinators in a school will provide support to teams of teachers planning with eUP.

In order for these curriculum leaders to have the skills and confidence to assist with planning, an eUP Coordinators network was formed 2008. This network will continue in 2010 with a series of four conferences to be held - one in each term.

These conferences will be relevant to teachers in schools who have already subscribed to eUP and those who are considering subscribing. eUP Coordinators are encouraged to attend.

The aim of the eUP Coordinators Network is to provide information and professional development to eUP Coordinators, so they can:
  • support teachers in their schools when planning curriculum
  • provide information to teachers in their schools about innovations and improvements to eUP
TERM ONE – March 10th
The focus for the Term One conference is on how eUP promotes inquiry-learning, the principles of backward design, the construction of Rich Assessment Tasks (RATS) and using cooperative tools.

TERM TWO – June 2nd
The focus for the Term Two conference is on the Thinking Processes Domain within VELS which requires teachers to teach and assess students' abilities in being able to use graphic organisers to assist them in organising their thoughts.

This conference will provide an opportunity to keep building units commenced in the Term 1 conference with a view to including appropriate and stimulating tasks that include a variety of graphic organisers.

TERM THREE – September 1st
The focus for the Term Three conference is ways to consider the Multiple Intelligences when planning tasks.

This conference will provide engaging and exciting opportunities to enhance curriculum planning and classroom practice in order to meet student needs.
eUP provides teachers with a wide range of possible tasks that engage students when employing different Multiple intelligences. These tasks have been placed against the levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy to enable the selection of simple to complex tasks within each intelligence.

Links between Personal Learning Standards in VELS and Multiple Intelligence theory will be provided.

The units that have been developed at the previous conferences will be enhanced with tasks that focus on Multiple Intelligences.

TERM 4 -  November 24th
The focus for the Term Four conference is on incorporating the Habits of Mind into planning.

Habits of Mind are 'ways of thinking intelligently when you don't know the answer.' They provide a valuable dimension to curriculum planning and can be incorporated into units of work in a number of different ways. This conference will focus on practical ways to introduce the Habits to students at all levels through movies, historical references, novels, fairy tales and personal reflection. An explicit link will be drawn between VELS and Habits of Mind.

The units that have been developed at the previous conferences will be enhanced with tasks that focus on Habits of Mind.

Please note that if you haven’t attended previous conferences, you will be able to join in and work with other teachers who are planning at the level at which you teach. Attendance at any or all conferences is not a prerequisite  for attendance at a conference of your choice.  All participants are asked to bring a laptop.
